Sanrokuen is a Japanese tea company based in Kumamoto, Kyushu. Founded in 1975, we sell Japanese tea directly to consumers and business customers and process tea in our own facilities in Kumamoto. Our organic-certified processing capability and in-house milling experience allow us to discuss not only origin and grade, but also how the tea will actually be used.
Our goal is to help each buyer choose a realistic product for its purpose: tea service, usucha, latte, desserts, baking, food manufacturing, retail products or overseas distribution. We do not present every powdered Japanese tea as matcha; tencha-based matcha and other Japanese green tea powders are clearly distinguished.
Meet Sanrokuen at FOOD EXPO Kyushu 2026.
We plan to exhibit in Fukuoka on October 6–7, 2026, presenting Kumamoto matcha, organic matcha, Kumamoto and Kagoshima hojicha powder, and selected Japanese green tea powders for cafés, retailers, distributors and food manufacturers.
Why buyers work with Sanrokuen
Sanrokuen combines Japanese tea sourcing with practical processing, roasting and milling experience. Our wholesale range is built around matcha and hojicha powder, with product identity, cultivar, harvest, intended use and current commercial conditions explained as clearly as possible.
- Matcha from Japan with transparent positioning: drinking grades, Business Grades A/B/C, organic matcha and cultivar-specific lots are clearly separated by intended use.
- Two origin-specific hojicha powders: Kagoshima first-harvest tencha-based hojicha and a more powerful Kumamoto hojicha made with first-harvest tea and matcha raw material.
- In-house processing experience: roasting, cyclone milling, ball milling and particle-size control allow us to discuss how the powder will perform in lattes, desserts and food manufacturing.
- Business samples: sample requests are discussed after we understand the buyer's intended use and requirements. Samples are for business evaluation, not individual consumer requests.
- Small business inquiries are welcome: there is no single universal MOQ across the range, although product-specific minimum quantities may apply. Shipping is charged separately.
- Current-lot recommendations: we discuss price, cultivar, flavor, color, available quantity, documentation and realistic supply conditions instead of relying only on grade names.

Hojicha powder wholesale Japan — Kagoshima & Kumamoto
Hojicha powder has become an increasingly important part of our wholesale range. Sanrokuen offers two Japanese-origin products with different taste profiles, both intended for cafés, lattes, desserts, bakery and food manufacturing.
Kagoshima First-Harvest Hojicha Powder
JPY 5,000/kg
Made by roasting organically grown first-harvest tencha raw material originally produced for matcha. Compared with ordinary bancha-based hojicha, the raw material has a stronger umami foundation. The result is an elegant roasted aroma with natural sweetness and depth.
Kumamoto Hojicha Powder
JPY 4,750/kg / MOQ 7 kg
Made from Kumamoto first-harvest tea plus Kumamoto matcha raw material. Sanrokuen roasts and mills the tea in-house. It has good aroma and strong umami, with a slightly more powerful and assertive taste than the Kagoshima version.
Organic JAS clarification for the Kagoshima product: the raw tencha is organically grown / Organic JAS raw material, but the finished hojicha powder is not sold or labeled as an Organic JAS-certified finished product.
For background on Japanese roasted tea, flavor, powder applications and terminology, see our complete Hojicha Guide and What Is Hojicha Powder?.
For practical guidance on raw material, first harvest vs. bancha, roasting and latte quality, see How to Choose Good Hojicha.
Other Japanese green tea powders
Green tea powder is a secondary part of this wholesale page. We offer it mainly for buyers who do not require tencha-based matcha identity and want a lower-cost Japanese tea ingredient for baking, lattes, cooking or food processing.
Green Tea Powder S
JPY 4,000–4,200/kg
Selected Kumamoto third-harvest tamaryokucha using cultivars including Yabukita, Saemidori and Sayamakaori. Strong-roasted; analyzed total nitrogen 4.1%.
View Green Tea Powder S →Green Tea Powder E
From JPY 2,800/kg
Cost-focused Kumamoto third-harvest Saemidori powder with strong roasting, developed for high-volume bakery, dessert, cooking and food-manufacturing use.
View Green Tea Powder E →Matcha and green tea powder are not the same product.
Sanrokuen sells tencha-based products as matcha and clearly labels other powdered Japanese teas as green tea powder. See our Japanese Green Tea Powder Guide for the broader range.
Available documents for wholesale and export
Available documents depend on the product, lot, destination country and buyer/importer requirements. Please tell us what is required before the order is finalized, because some documents, inspections or certificates need additional time and cost.
- FDA: FDA-related information or documentation where applicable to the shipment and U.S. import arrangement.
- Organic JAS: Organic JAS documentation for applicable certified organic products.
- Pesticide residue report: Available or arranged depending on the product, lot and buyer requirement.
- Phytosanitary certificate: Can be discussed when required and issuable for the destination and product.
- Origin documents: Certificate of origin or other origin-related documents can be discussed according to the shipment.
- Specification sheet: Product specification sheets can be provided for applicable wholesale products.
Please confirm documents before ordering. A document being listed here does not mean every document is automatically required, available for every product, or accepted by every destination authority. Importers should confirm destination-country requirements.
International shipping, import requirements and responsibility
International food trade is different from ordinary parcel delivery. The best shipping method depends on the destination country, order quantity, product, importer status and required documents. We therefore confirm the destination and commercial conditions before deciding how an order should be handed over or shipped.
Typical preparation time: business samples are typically prepared in 1–2 weeks after requirements are confirmed. Commercial orders are typically prepared in 2–4 weeks after specification, advance payment and order conditions are confirmed. Custom processing, testing, certification or export documents may require additional time.
Important: International shipment from Japan does not by itself guarantee that the goods can be imported into the destination country. Importer registration, food registration, prior notification, local labeling, laboratory testing, customs clearance, duties, taxes and other destination-country requirements may apply.
Possible delivery arrangements
- Delivery to your forwarding warehouse in Japan: A practical option when the buyer already has a Japanese forwarding service. Our delivery responsibility can be limited to the agreed domestic handover point, with international forwarding and customs handled by the buyer or its service provider.
- Direct international shipment: This may be possible for some countries and order sizes after product, destination and required procedures are confirmed.
- Freight forwarder or commercial logistics arrangement: For larger or more complex shipments, use of a freight forwarder or other commercial logistics arrangement may be discussed.
Forwarding services previously used by customers
Some overseas customers arrange international shipping through a forwarding or logistics company in Japan. If you do not already have a provider, the following companies have previously been used in customer arrangements with Sanrokuen. They are listed as practical reference examples only and are not endorsed or guaranteed by Sanrokuen.
- DANKA LTD. — Previously used in an overseas customer forwarding arrangement.
- ST Global Inc. — Previously used in customer arrangements for Asian destinations.
- Naigai Trans Line — Previously used in an overseas customer logistics arrangement.
Looking for other forwarding companies? If none of the examples above fit your destination or shipment, you may also consult this Japanese-language reference article listing a wide range of forwarding companies:

Sanrokuen does not verify or endorse the rankings. Please contact each provider directly to confirm food handling, destination coverage, fees, documents and import procedures.
Please contact the provider directly before ordering. Sanrokuen is not affiliated with these companies and does not guarantee their services, rates, destination coverage, acceptance of food products, customs procedures or import compliance. Services and conditions may change. Please confirm shipping availability, fees, required documents and destination-country import procedures directly with the provider.
What we ask buyers to confirm
- Destination country: Import rules and required documents vary by country.
- Importer or forwarding arrangement: Please tell us whether you will import directly or use a forwarding warehouse or logistics provider.
- Intended use and quantity: Commercial use, retail sale, food manufacturing and sample evaluation may involve different practical requirements.
- Required documents or tests: Please tell us before quotation if your importer, customs broker, customer or local authority requires specific certificates, laboratory tests or product documents.
- Cost responsibility: Unless otherwise agreed, EXW factory handover prices exclude domestic delivery, international freight, customs costs, duties, import taxes, customs-broker fees and local regulatory costs.
Before ordering: Please send us your country, intended use, approximate quantity, preferred package and any known import-document requirements. We can then discuss a realistic supply and handover method. Some destinations or requests may not be accepted if importer-side procedures or required documentation cannot be completed.
Quality approach: cultivar, components and final use
Sanrokuen evaluates first-harvest Kumamoto matcha lots and selected other lots through color, aroma, taste, bitterness, powder texture and actual-use performance. Component testing may include total nitrogen, free amino acids, theanine, fiber, tannin, caffeine, vitamin C and AF score.
- Drinking use: smoothness, umami, aroma and low harshness.
- Latte use: green color, body and flavor strength after milk is added.
- Desserts and food: color, aroma, heat-use performance and practical cost.
- Overseas buyers: grade, quantity, package, documentation and realistic supply conditions.
- Hojicha use: roasted aroma, underlying umami, sweetness, body and performance after milk or dairy ingredients are added.
Component values alone do not determine the final matcha. Cultivar, shading, harvest timing, tencha processing, firing, milling, particle size, freshness and storage all matter.

Why we can explain these specifications: for commissioned Kumamoto matcha, we become involved before harvest—selecting farmers and cultivars, setting quality targets, guaranteeing purchase of the commissioned volume, and grading the final lot through analysis and sensory evaluation.

Matcha & hojicha wholesale FAQ
Common questions from cafés, food manufacturers, retailers and distributors. Final conditions are confirmed by product, lot and destination.
What is the MOQ?
As a general rule, Sanrokuen does not set one universal MOQ across the entire wholesale range. Small commercial orders can be discussed, but shipping charges apply and some products have product-specific minimums. Kumamoto Hojicha Powder currently has a 7 kg MOQ.
Can I request samples?
Yes, for business evaluation. Please contact us with your company, intended use, destination and products you want to test. Samples are discussed after requirements are confirmed and are typically prepared in 1–2 weeks. We do not provide wholesale samples to individual consumers.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipment may be possible depending on the destination, product, quantity, importer status and import requirements. Delivery to a buyer's forwarding warehouse in Japan can also be discussed. The buyer or importer is generally responsible for destination-country registration, customs clearance, duties, taxes and local requirements unless otherwise agreed.
What packaging sizes are available?
Many business-use matcha, hojicha and tea powders are supplied in 1 kg bags. Other bulk or packaging specifications can be discussed depending on the product, quantity, current lot and destination.
Do you offer organic matcha?
Yes. We offer Organic JAS matcha in selected current lots and are also developing Organic Matcha Y, a business-use Kumamoto organic matcha planned around November 2026 after the October harvest. Availability and documents should be confirmed for the current lot.
Can I specify cultivar?
For some matcha products and current lots, yes. Sanrokuen handles cultivars such as Yabukita, Saemidori, Seimei, Tsuyuhikari, Sayamakaori and others. Cultivar selection depends on product, inventory, harvest year and required quantity, so please tell us your preference when inquiring.
What documents are available?
Depending on product, lot and destination, we can discuss FDA-related information or documents, Organic JAS documents, pesticide residue reports, phytosanitary certificates, origin documents and product specification sheets. Some documents or tests require additional time or cost.
What is the typical lead time?
Business samples are typically prepared in 1–2 weeks after requirements are confirmed. Commercial orders are typically prepared in 2–4 weeks after specification, advance payment and order conditions are confirmed. Custom processing, testing or documentation may take longer.
Can you supply continuously?
Continuous supply can be discussed based on expected monthly quantity, product grade, harvest volume and current inventory. For recurring business, please tell us your forecast as early as possible so we can discuss reservation or production planning. Agricultural products remain subject to crop and weather conditions.
What is the difference between matcha and green tea powder?
Sanrokuen's matcha is tencha-based. Other powdered Japanese teas, including tamaryokucha and third-harvest green tea powder, are sold clearly as green tea powder rather than matcha. Green tea powder can be a useful lower-cost ingredient for lattes, baking and food processing when true matcha identity is not essential.
